The college of mechanical engineering sub-forum of Southwest Jiaotong University's 2021 "Communicate with elites around the world, achieve outstanding achievements in the universe" Scholars Forum was successfully held

On December 4, 2021, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, the college of mechanical engineering sub-forum of Southwest Jiaotong University's 2021 "Communicate with elites around the world, achieve outstanding achievements in the universe" scholars forum was successfully held through the Tencent Conference. Dean Professor Linmao Qian, related teachers, and young scholars at home and abroad, etc. participated in the forum. The forum was hosted by Professor Hongli Gao, the director of the Department of Electromechanical Measurement and Control.

First, Professor Gao gave the welcome speech to young scholars at home and abroad and introduced the sub-forum of mechanical engineering briefly. Then Dean Qian gave a detailed introduction about the college's overall situation, advantageous subject platforms, scientific research projects and teams, so that young scholars could understand the basic situation of the college. At the same time, Dean Qian sent a sincere invitation to scholars.

Later, special guests of the forum—Professor Jiliang Mo from our school, Scholar Hongtian Chen from the University of Alberta in Canada, Scholar Tengjiao Jiang from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Scholar Qianyu Chen from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom, carried out wonderful academic exchange reports respectively .

As a representative of outstanding young scholars trained in Southwest Jiaotong University, combining with experiments and finite element analysis techniques, Professor Jiliang Mo discussed the safe service of key components of high-speed railway braking system and catenary system with young scholars from perspectives of tribology, dynamics, fatigue reliability and fault diagnosis. Research results have important social and economic benefits and scientific significance for the development of our country's high-speed train braking core technology with independent intellectual property rights and the development of new-generation high-speed railway catenary equipment.

Scholar Hongtian Chen introduced Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA), a supervised machine learning method widely used in fault diagnosis, with young scholars. Scholar Chen elaborated a typical correlation analysis method of unilateral neural network (including original design intention, concept, specific implementation, etc.), and mathematically prove that it has the best diagnostic performance for additive faults. Finally, the feasibility of the method was demonstrated through actual experiments.

Scholar Tengjiao Jiang introduced a portable photogrammetric system of electrified railways to young scholars. This system is able to realize remote, non-contact and no-marked catenary lift measurement. The measurement system has been successfully applied to the Norwegian Railway's catenary lift measurement. The accuracy, robustness and applicability of the proposed measurement system were verified through numerical experiments, on-site uplift measurement of the catenary and identification of the contact lines in different noisy backgrounds.

Scholar Qianyu Chen communicated a new technology for fault diagnosis and prediction of point machines with young scholars, which effectively improves the reliability, safety, and accuracy of fault diagnosis and prediction of point machines.

Finally, young scholars at home and abroad had a warm discussion on the college's talent introduction policies. The host of the forum, Professor Hongli Gao, answered relevant questions one by one.
